Choose your base model
BW Sauna Co. builds custom traditional Finnish saunas in Duluth, Minnesota and delivers them across Colorado, including Denver, Boulder, and the Front Range. These are not kit saunas. Every build carries a steel frame, an eight layer insulated wall system, and corrugated metal exterior siding that stands up to Front Range hail.
We build three ways for Denver properties: mobile trailer saunas that arrive road-ready, stationary backyard saunas set on your property, and fully custom home saunas designed into new construction. Heaters are wood burning or electric from IKI, Kuuma, or Harvia.
We have already delivered into the Colorado high country, including a mobile sauna build in Boulder, and our Colorado page covers delivery across the rest of the state.

Our Custom Sauna Process
Simple, effortless from start to finish.
Step 01 · Conversation
You reach a person, not a form.
- First calls are led by Fitz. When you call the shop, you get one of two people: Fitz, or Jayson, our founder.
- We start with the questions that shape everything else: capacity, personal or commercial use, stove type, and mobile or stationary.
- We talk through your options at a high level and land on a direction that fits.
Step 02 · Design
Every line refined until it earns its place.
- It starts with a floor plan. Once the plan works, we move into materials and features.
- Features are the specifics: ADA access, a porthole window. Materials are the finishes, from a yakisugi or thermal pine exterior to clear-grade cedar inside.
- Standard models can be configured on the site. Custom builds get a design call and in-house 3D renderings, drawn by Jayson.
Step 03 · Build
Hand-crafted in Duluth. Built to hold up.
- Every sauna is hand-crafted in our Duluth shop.
- You get photo updates every single day. Even on days we are waiting on materials, you still hear from us.
- The difference is in what you cannot see: a multi-layer wall system, sealed so moisture never reaches the cavity, over a steel trailer frame.
Step 04 · Delivery
Set in place. Ready the moment we leave.
- We deliver and set the sauna in place. It is ready to use the moment we pull away.
- Support does not end at delivery. When you call, you reach Fitz or Jayson directly, not a call center.
- If something ever needs attention, we stand behind the build.
Question you might have.
Do you deliver saunas to Colorado?
Yes. BW Sauna Co. builds custom traditional Finnish saunas in Duluth, Minnesota and delivers them across Colorado, including Denver, Boulder, the Front Range, and the mountain towns.
We have already delivered into the Colorado high country, including a mobile sauna build in Boulder. Denver area buyers can also start on our dedicated Denver page.
Whether you are looking for a custom home sauna, a mobile sauna, or a fully custom outdoor sauna, BW can plan the build, delivery, and installation around your Colorado property.
What does a custom sauna cost in Colorado?
BW custom home saunas usually start around $30,000. Mobile saunas usually start around $40,000. Delivery to Colorado is planned into the quote.
Custom home saunas can range up to $80,000 or more depending on size, layout, finishes, stove selection, and site needs. Mobile saunas can increase for larger custom or commercial builds.
These are not simple kit saunas. BW saunas are built with the same mindset, materials, and finish expectations you would find in a $3 million to $10 million luxury home. You can explore current models on our saunas for sale page or start with the custom sauna quote tool.
Can a BW sauna handle Colorado hail and mountain weather?
Yes. Every BW sauna ships with corrugated metal exterior siding as the standard, built over a steel frame. Metal siding resists the hail that damages wood siding and shingle roofs.
Colorado averages more than 400 hail events a year, and the Front Range is one of the costliest hail corridors in the country. That is exactly the environment corrugated steel was made for. It does not take impact damage the way asphalt or cedar shake does, it does not care about high altitude UV, and it sheds wind driven rain and snow without absorbing any of it.
Underneath the siding, an eight layer insulated wall system with a sealed foil vapor barrier keeps the heat in and moisture out of the structure. You can see every layer in our breakdown of the heat layers of a trailer sauna, and read how long an outdoor sauna lasts when it is built for the climate.
How well does a sauna perform in Colorado winters?
Extremely well. BW saunas are built in Duluth, Minnesota for subzero winters, and Colorado cold is the environment they are designed around.
The wall system uses R-15 rock wool insulation, a sealed foil vapor barrier, and an air gap behind the interior cedar or aspen cladding. The result is a room that comes to temperature quickly in freezing weather, holds heat between rounds, and dries out fully between sessions.
Heaters are wood burning or electric from IKI, Kuuma, or Harvia, sized to the room. If you are weighing the two, our post on electric versus wood burning stoves covers the decision.
Do I need a permit for a sauna in Colorado?
In many cases, no. Most BW sauna structures are designed to stay under the square footage that commonly triggers permit requirements.
Colorado rules vary by city, county, HOA, and property type, and mountain communities can have their own requirements, so we always recommend checking your local rules before installation.
BW saunas are built on a steel frame, which gives you more flexibility for placement. They can rest on a concrete slab, posts, or a prepared gravel area. Electric models may require electrical work, while wood fired models may have different placement and clearance considerations. You can learn more on our FAQ page or start with our custom home sauna page.
Is a sauna a good investment for a Colorado short term rental?
Yes. In Colorado ski and mountain markets, a sauna is a bookable amenity that guests search for, and it works most of the year.
Colorado short term rentals compete hardest in the cold months, which is exactly when a sauna earns its keep. Research on listing performance shows guests prefer saunas over hot tubs, and our guide on boosting Airbnb value and rates with a sauna covers what it does to nightly rates and occupancy.
For operators running multiple properties or events, a mobile sauna can serve more than one location. Our sauna business ideas post covers the operating models.
