This build started with a placement problem. The property sits on the North Shore of Lake Superior, where the water is the entire reason the cabin exists and shoreline construction is the hardest thing on the property to get approved. A fixed sauna would have to be further back, with a long walk down to the lake and a longer one back. The owner wanted the opposite. The result is a crank-down mobile sauna with a picture window and a covered cedar porch, built to the same wall spec as a home sauna, parked close enough to the shore that the cold plunge is few steps down to the lake.

  • Listen to Your Body: If you feel uncomfortable, exit the sauna! It is better to prevent than to cure.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink water before, during, and after your sauna session to replace lost fluids.

The short answer is yes—with some restrictions. Saunas generally promote weight reduction by sweating, which allows the body to shed water weight momentarily.
